Well, I was going to pass this game up since I didn't like dirt, and rally games were never my cup of tea, but playing it on the 360 made me interested enough to give it a good try.

Maybe it dosnt have the staying power that Shift has, its a pleasant driving game all around. Control is actually fairly nice, you definitely get a better sense of weight to your car, and playing around dirt feels a whole lot better and funner. In shift you lost so much control when you went off road but in dirt, it simply feels like you are driving through soft dirt.

Visual representation is very nice (I have no idea if dx10 gets access to some of the dx11 effects or not, dx11 can fall back to dx10 while dx10 didn't fall into 9) and I like how they keep the game moving seamlessly in 3d while the game loads segments. Finally a good use for multi-threaded processing.

If I had any gripes, it would be that its a little to easy to flip your car if you snag the edge of a rock wall, and the sound. Shift was an absolute dream to hear on my 5.1 surround sound setup, dirt on the other hand just sounds generic and bland.

I also would have like atleast some kind of intro to the lingo the navigators use. Sure I can find it on wiki but I can bet you %90 of the people buying the game have never actually sat and watched a rally race.

this is not a rally game, which is quite a shame, that like EA making mixed martial art game to honor Muhammad Ali.

this game makes no sence, to honor Colin they should have made a full blown rally game, not something tha has 3 rally courses.

Not to go to far OT but I wonder how GT5 rally stuff will feel/handle compared to this game.

I like it so far, looks pretty good. I'm only Level 10 but it's pretty good. I'm not sure why they need to have all these unlocks, it's the latest trend in gaming to just give you unlocks every five minutes I guess. Looks pretty good. Drivers are kinda annoying and so is the commentary, kinda excessive. I'd like to bring back the sexy lady voice from GRID

Woot ATI skins

Runs pretty good. Is there a setting to force DX11? How do i know that it runs under DX11?

This game just like Grid has problems with Xi-Fi Sound Card. I had to switch to entertainment mode to have it propertly work.

Just load FRAPS and look if there is a black border around the fps counter, if you see the black border it's DX11.

The game uses a software based OpenAL driver that can be chosen in game options (Rapture3D), it should work flawlessly with whatever sound card you have installed
