Are there any GPU's that run cool yet fast?

And no I don't mean by having a good cooling system, all that does is move heat from one place to another place. I mean GPU's that don't produce much heat to begin with. I hate how during the summer my room gets so hot because my GPU is producing so much heat.

ATI and Nvidia seem to be doing what intel was doing up until a few years ago until the core 2 architecture came out. I remember when I upgraded from a P4 to my first core 2, not only was it a hell of a lot faster but it ran much cooler too.

I am wanting something similar to happen with my GPU. I want to upgrade from my current GeForce 8800 GTS 640 to something faster, but at the same time I am hating the idea that summers will get even hotter while gaming.

It's kinda hard for a stock gpu cooler to to dissipate close to 300 watts and keep a card cool. Your best bet is to water cool the video card if you want good temps.

He's asking which card performs decent without noisy fans and big heat output.

Maybe a stock GTX260 with stock clocks, or the "new" GTS240+GDDR5 which is shrunk down die.

I know what you mean bro. My gaming rig is off during the whole freakin' summer and I doubt I'm going to build another desktop system while I live here. Water cooling seems to be the only effective solution if your budget isn't an issue.

The G80 series was pretty hot and power hungry. There are plenty of newer cards that are much more efficient.

A 55nm GTX 260, or Radeon 5850, depending on your price range probably wouldn't be much different than what you have right now as far as heat output.

A 5770 would actually be cooler than your 8800 GTS, and it'd be much faster.

I was gonna say gtx 260 55nm too, it loads for example in left 4 dead 2 at max settings under 65c.

5770's are pretty cool by comparason to similar speed cards i think.

Well fast is relative. Most G92 designs will be faster and use less load power. All GT200 designs will probablly use a bit more load power but much less idle ((MUCH less. IE 25-30 Watt range verses 150-180 Watt idle ranges)).
