I see some really cool possibilities. My wireless network at home gets a helluva workout daily and it's so much more convenient than the alternative. Two PS3's, Xbox360, Wii, a couple PSP's, Nintendo DS, 3 kid's pc's and the Wife's laptop that she takes out on the patio all make wireless a perfect fit in my house. Add the fact that our house is 30 years old, two story and had a couple additions, makes it a wired networking nightmare. Wireless fits perfectly.

That 7Gbps will be reachable only under special laboratory conditions (ie. never at home), and devices will have to be within something like 30 inches from each other (ie. within one room).

Nothing beats good old cable.

Sure but even if you get 20% of that 7 Gbps you still have more bandwidth than a gigabit connection...
