Start of game sound in Defender!

OK, it's an old arcade game, but am surprised no-one else has mentioned this! It's AWSOME!!!

It still sends shivers down my spine when I hear it. Oh so many hours spent playing that when I was younger.

Oh yea. I definitely remember that sound.

M.M.M.M.Monster Kill in UT2003/2004 was also pretty awesome.

The sounds from the old Sinistar arcade game were tons of fun.

"I HUNGER" every time you drop in a quarter is great.

I dunno if voice is considered a sound effect, but the Men in Black voices in Deus Ex are awesome.

I also like Simish from The Sims

and noises the Sriders make in Half Life 2

oh and the engine noise from the buggy, it's a 68 (i think) Camaro with a stainless exhuast according to Raising the Bar)

How about the Battle Cry scream from the old Firearms mod for Half-Life. Anyone else remember that?

ARRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Some times you'd hear that like a thousand times during one game.

Or the sound of the crowbar hitting a wall in Half-Life (or TFC, or the knife in CS).

Or, "You Have The Enemy Flag" from TFC.

EDIT: Just thought of another great one.

The old lady saying "I Was In the War!" in the original Carmageddon.

Probably in between levels when the life bar meter fills up in Mercs for Genesis.

Edit: Probably not, but that's what comes to mind right now.

A bit obscure, but the hit sound in Savage. Mostly because I spent so damn much time playing that game.

Agreed, this is golden! If you play the sounds backwards, it actually makes sense.
