What app to convert wmv or avi to divx?

My oldies just got themselfes Lg HT904 home theatre + 40' Sony Bravia full HD.

I like to watch trailers (CG) from games with my father. We always did watched them on my pc with 22' screen

But this new dvd reciever have ability to play movies from usb memory right with 1080p

. I wolud like to watch some trailers with my dad so I copied trailers and only .divx file was working. And I have only one trailer in that format

All trailers I have on hdd are from gametrailers. WMV HD 1280x720 mostly .wmv. And these are not working right away.

I suppose I can convert those easily to .divx or something else working?

On a free basis... VirtualDub is your friend
On a paid basis... TMPEnc Xpress 4.0

btw. Virtualdub cannot open wmv hd files

Whops... didn't thought VirtualDub would have problem with those, but to be honest I omitted that when I told you about VirtualDub.

I'll try make a search for another solution

They have some good utilities (I'm using their wma/mp3 converter and it works like a charm, haven't tried the video ones, but looks quite good and they're free)

Use SUPER. It will convert any format to any format. You have to specify the resolution and codecs. It's completely free.

yes it is, but it can also do xvid,

just no divx, and at least in my opinion not very user friendly.
