This sounds exactly the same as what I'm getting with my Quadro FX 880M, guessing they must have something in common!

Just today I've solved my stability problem with gtx260M, i've 33-rc3 kernel, 32 bit with PAE.
As I've said in my thread, no more X crashes for me adding:

hpet=force
clocksource=hpet

as kernel parameters at boot

I've also recompiled my kernel with HPET_MMAP=y but I don't know if it's important...

PS: no solution for switching to 3D freq...

EDIT: not true... my bad.

Sorry... my bad ... I spoke too early ...
problem is still present. I don't know if it's less frequent, or if by chance all day does not occur ... but now X crashes restart...

back to bumping...

on a side note,
running 173. on 64bit, this xorg.conf option:
Option "PixmapCacheSize" "200000"
and this nvidia-settings config:
nvidia-settings -a InitialPixmapPlacement=3 -a GlyphCache=1

works semi decently from a performance standpoint.

You do realise that bumping like this is regarded as bad netiquette, don't you?

The issue is that if it continues, then everyone starts to do it, and the forum simply becomes a useless resource full of bump posts.

I would really appreciate if you stopped doing it.

Thanks for your understanding
ws

PS: To the mods. If bumping is really considered as OK, please let us know, and I'm quite happy to eat humble pie for sticking my nose in where it shouldn't be.
