Ok sorry to waste everyones time, my ebay sale went poorly, so have decided to cancel most of it, i now cant afford a new system. I have kept the memory and motherboard in my sig and ordered a Q9550 12mb cache. I'm happy with that. CPU arrives saturday.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with ebay.....but that q9550 is no slouch either.

Q9550 is still within 15% (if not even or even ahead at times) of any other chip without using sli/xfire so you should be plenty happy with that!

Let us know how it goes.

overclock i want. Seen a nice zalman cooler that i want, so next few months will be fun.

Congrats,

For the record, I'm super pleased with the Asus M4A79XTD-Evo. I'm running 3.9ghz @ 1.465vcore. Idle temps 32'C, full Load Running Intel Burn Test(check it out if you haven't) is 53'C. NB is @ 2.8ghz @ 1.3volts and HT is @ 2400 stock volts.

The best thing about this board, and maybe all the SB750 boards are like this, is that as you change the HTT it changes the default values on the HT link, NB, and Memory in real time, in the bios. This makes it way easier to calculate what your Ram is gonna be running or what NB or HT multiplier to use, as it's already done for you. No more remembering all those ratios and divisors.

I've tried to get up to 4.0ghz and I just need too many volts, so I'll settle for the 3.9ghz and reasonable temps. I've booted windows and ran stuff @ 4.4ghz @1.55vcore. but it's not 100% stable and it's pushing the thermal limit pretty hard.

Cheers Drolf and let us know how that thing overclocks,

JC

Good overclock Johnny C. 2.8GHz on the NB is pretty impressive too.
