Default Re: Is PC Gaming going to die?

PC digital market is booming this year. More than I expected really. I think steam, direct2drive and to a lesser extent impulse, xfire, gamersgate will be raising eyebrows of the publishers. They get more profits, and instant releases along with stats of who bought what and in the case of xfire and steam who is playing what games when. How many new PC releases won't come to Steam, not many by the end of this year.

Retail PC sales numbers are completely irrelevant today.

So, because IW made a crappy port to PC, the PC market is dying? Honestly, that makes no sense at all. Regardless if the game originated on the console or the PC, the PC gaming market is alive and is thriving. Just because there are no specific company that is developing specifically for the PC/console industry doesn't mean that said industry is suffering.

I know I'm going to be highly critiziced for what I'm going to say but... PC needs to become more like a console in order to survive in the gaming sense of the word... if the PC was a fixed architecture story would be quite different but... well... it's what it is, and it's ok for me, it's ok for many people, but we all know it should change, at least a bit.
Steam is great but I think Microsoft saved PC gaming with Games for Windows. They made the Xbox 360 such that porting from 360 to PC would be easy. They know that gaming helps push hardware and operating system upgrades.

Also I agree some kind of standard PC gaming architecture is needed. Meaning you could buy a certified PC that all "Games for Windows" use for their testing.

Games for Windows is a JOKE. It just made my gaming experience worse by annoying me with extra crap to install.

Agreed, better without the shiz... I couldnt play GTA 4 online without it the other day...
So I have to use Rockstar Social Club to be able to start the game... and MS Live to play online... great system
