Default 3 Monitors 2 Video Cards

Hi,

I'm having a problem getting a workable setup after upgrading Ubuntu. I have found a couple of posts about it each with no solution:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1235114
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1268462

Basically, the problem is that with 3 Screens and Xinerama set, I get errors starting X. It's a very cryptic error, so I can't really make much progress.

I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers, same behavior. I can get it to load without the Xinerama option set, but I don't want to run that way. I can also get TwinView on the first card (dual head), and a separate X server on the second card, but the TwinView will not maximize windows correctly. Maximized windows take up the two combined screens. So, I'm kinda stuck.

TwinView one just one card with two monitors works fine, it's only when I add the second card in that I start to have problems.

Default Re: 3 Monitors 2 Video Cards

Hi!

Can you please generate a full nvidia-bug-report.log?
Please check the following posting for details on how to do that:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46678

Unfortunately, there's no obvious indication in the config file
and/or the log output what might be wrong. You may try
out if leaving out the metamodes make a difference
(but I doubt it).

regards

Bernhard

I have the exact same issue, when ever I activate xinerama and reboot (Or log out) all my screen flickers one after the other. Im able to get the same 1 screen in seperate X mode and the other 2 on the same card in twinview.

I also posted something on Ubuntu forums and tried IRC but still no luck (been at this for 1 week now)
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...17#post8644517

Default Re: 3 Monitors 2 Video Cards

Here is the report that was requested,

heres what I did:

- sudo nvidia-setting
- checked the ENABLE Xinerama
- Loged out (Screens now flickers)
- From another computer ssh and ran the sudo nvidia-bug-report.sh

Then from that ssh session i edited (sudo vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf) and change xienerama to 0 instead of 1 (Screen were still flashing and then when I saved i got the GDM login)

I realy need some help getting to the next phase of troubleshooting
