Hello,
I recently compiled mplayer vdpau and I have this weird error when launching any type of video file. I tried many packages of mplayer-vdpau and xine-vdpau and always the same error: Quote:

Please run the following command before running vdpinfo:
export VDPAU_NVIDIA_DEBUG=3 Then post everything that vdpinfo prints out. Also, please generate an nvidia bug report; see the stick posts for details. Thanks. |

No, your driver is somehow incorrectly installed. Did you install using a distribution package, or using NVIDIA's ".run" installer? Either way, I suggest uninstalling the NVIDIA driver completely and re-installing.

I didn't installed the .run but the nvidia-beta package from repo. . .
I already tried to re-install and it doesn't work

You'll probably need to talk to whoever created that packaged version of the NVIDIA driver then.
However, could you also run the command below. I imagine it'll indicate that either multiple libvdpau_nvidia.so are installed, or that the wrong one is: ls -l /{usr/{local/,},}lib*/{vdpau/,}libvdpau_nvidia* Thanks. |

You can probably get things working by:
rm -f /usr/lib/libvdpau_nvidia.so /usr/lib/libvdpau_nvidia.so.190.42 However, you should try and find out where those files came from, so that you can a) uninstall any conflicting packages b) make sure they don't come back, and/or c) file a bug against the package. The most likely possibilities are: a) You previously installed 190.42 using NVIDIA's ".run" file, and didn't uninstall it using NVIDIA's installer before installing the 195 drivers using the package. In this case, just delete the 190.42 files and be done with it. b) You previously installed 190.42 using a package, but the upgrade to the 195 package didn't remove the (or all of the) 190.42 package. if so, you should report a bug to the maintainer(s) of both packages. |

I choose the option b) because I never installed .run driver ^^
Is there a command to find every file of 190.42 driver like the one you gave me but for all package ? however, always the same error. . . Do I have to recompile mplayer ? Maybe is it better to do it without any 190.42 file ?
