Default GT220 Slowdown Threshold 255C?!?

I've got a GT220-based card in my system. According to nvidia-settings with the 190.53 drivers, the slowdown threshold is 255C. I can't imagine that's right. At idle right now it's at 24C. After playing a bit of Doom3 it was ~35C as soon as I had a chance to check it. I would have to think that it really should be about 100C cooler than that, right?

I just wanted to bump this again. My concern is that since the fan speed is variable, if the driver is deciding to speed up the fan based on how close it is to the threshold temperature that the card could be damaged by overheating simply because that value was wrong.

I have the same problem with my GTS 360m. Shows 255C threshold and idles at 60C. 190.53 Linux drivers.
