Ok, I have been searching for answers for the past few weeks with no luck. My Mint 8 linux install went fine up until i had to install the nvidia drivers version 96.43.13
I am running a Toshiba Satellite 1410/2410 series Using a CRT-0 monitor as my laptop screen is dead. Geforce4 420 Go 16MB (upgraded to kernel 2.6.32 as of last week) I have have seen a lot of old material for fixes but I cannot find my modprobe.conf in this machine, and for the xorg.conf options i have used ignoreedid true, 1, etc etc I did however notice my DPI was off 1280x1024 pixels (322x241 millimeters) 101x108 dots per inch so i used Option "DPI" "85x86" and set it right dimensions: 1280x1024 pixels (382x302 millimeters) resolution: 85x86 dots per inch But the dreaded black bar is still there!.. I've taken a lot of options into mind and just can't stand this bar anymore, I would GREATLY appreciate it if someone could help me ![]() Here is my xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log Last edited by Stoshiba; 01-16-10 at 06:54 PM. well I turned on my DFP-0 and hex edited the edid.bin file to set native resolution to 1024x768 with a custom edid.bin, it got rid of 1 inch of black line on the right but i have a black border around the whole desktop still. This seems as good as its going to get so thanks to http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=84773 I was able to fix the black bar. cheers
