Hi ,
For gaming in real time game ( first person shooter , ex. Urban Terror ) what's the best ? optimization_mode=0 optimization_mode=1 optimization_mode=2 further ,is NVIDIA FirstPacket™ technology available in GNU/linux ? Thanks for all |

Im sure you couldn't even measure a performance difference, let alone notice one:
From linux/drivers/net/forcedeth.c: MODULE_PARM_DESC(optimization_mode, "In throughput mode (0), every tx & rx packet will generate an interrupt. In CPU mode (1), interrupts are controlled by a timer. In dynamic mode (2), the mode toggles between throughput and CPU mode based on network load."); As for FirstPacket, there's no linux support that I know of, but it is only a QoS implementation, so as long as you're not downloading a bunch of stuff while you're gaming it's not going to help you. (And I'm sure the default QoS would work just as well in that case.) |
