You sound quietly confident DB

It's more powerful kit what's not to like Gordon Moore

It's a sign, I've just been catching up on the Sarah Connor Chronicles where Cromarty is resurrected. He's out there somewhere

Darth, on the Quadro, holy crap, man.....

I'd be wearing Nvidia t-shirts, sneakers, hell.. I'd walk around town with their 3-D glasses on if they sent me a gift like that.

Facebook : "-> The wait is almost over! The world's most anticipated--and fastest--PC graphics gaming technology ever created will be unveiled at PAX 2010.
Visit http://www.nvidia.com/paxeast for more information and to find out how you can compete to win a free trip to Boston!"

I'm tired of waiting xD ! Give us the power now ^^ !

Pax east is on the 26th to 28th of march 2010 and the actual hardware reviews of the cards only happends a week later,so we'll see final clocks, performance and power use only in early april, and the guru 3D article above hints that overall performance is good but not the crushing victory some here expect, with the GTX 470 cards selling for about the same price as the HD5850 cards.

Quote from Guru3d follows:

Quote:
What I will tell you is that the clock frequencies on these boards surprised me, the GeForce 470 seems to be clocked at roughly 650 MHz, that's lower than I expected. And that indeed will have an effect on performance. I think it's safe to that the GeForce 470 and 480 will be worthy competitors towards the Radeon HD 5850 and 5870. Will it be a knock-out ? I doubt it very much. But is it important for NVIDIA to deliver a knockout to the competition ? Well they would hope so, but no .. not really, as the current performance levels that ATI for example offers simply are superb already. Being six months late to the market does pose an issue, ATI will already be respinning and binning their upcoming products, clocked higher and they could match NVIDIA in either price or performance.

Interpret that as you will, but it's not looking great....My take on it?....Ouch after waiting 7+ months for this thing.

I still have faith in the Green team

If they compete with the HD5850 and HD5870 I wouldn't find that a bad thing, I expected more yes, but if they are priced well I'm surely gonna buy me a GTX 480 Note that I don't buy a graphics card only for 3D-gaming, CUDA-accelerated apps such as Photoshop is what I like 2 And in the future Adobe will go for OpenCl which I think ATI has not (yet)

That's about the only thing really,it's GP-GPU capabilities with the use of Cuda, where the overall infrestructure is far more developed, with more applications actually being developed and currently running with Cuda, compared to with ATI.

Thinking back about it though,it did seem strange that when ATI lanched the HD5700/5800 cards back on september 23rd and it focused on gaming to a large degree, when Nvidia held it's first press conference regarding fermi a week later, they focused mainly on it's GP-GPU capabilities and didn't even speak of gaming performance yet.

As the weeks and months went by and still no leaks on gaming performance, and the focus still remained on GP-GPU abilities,i began to get the impression that unlike ATI,it seems that the main focus for Fermi is that of primarily being a GP-GPU that can also play games, rather than primarily a GPU that could technically also do GP-GPU applications(ATI's aproach).

Basically it comes down to the primary focus for each processor.

May I ask when the NDA is up? I don't feel like reading entire threads to see if it's been posted already.
