Cairo 1.10.0 turned on calls to hardware gradients, which seem to be dreadfully slow in the NVIDIA driver. Is it possible to have the NVIDIA driver changed so that these are sped up?

Bump. Hope everyone had a nice holiday.
Cairo folks won't fix the issue so unless I'm mistaken, the NVIDIA driver will need to be fixed. |

Gradients are accelerated on recent GPUs, but there are a couple of bugs that cause corruption issues that we're working on fixing.

GPUs from GeForce 9 series to the GeForce 400 series suffer from extremely poor performance with gradients being enabled under cairo 1.10. The URLs I referenced in the first post contain additional evidence. I apologize if I was not clear enough on my first post.
The workaround at the moment is to disable the gradient calls in cairo 1.10. |

I haven't seen any corruption issues with Fedora 14 / Nvidia 260.19.12 but the UI is extremely slow with the default theme. Switching to Mist theme (which has no gradients) makes it fast but ugly.

Fedora has apparently pushed an update that avoids the problem (using software rendering instead).

FYI: The Fedora update is temporary and Fedora 15 will not include it (and will never include it).
NVIDIA must still fix the gradient issue. |
