Only the PC is an open platform which allows you to remove DRM from your games with ease.
Download games but not retail.

U just fired up dead space for my second run. Cranked at max settings 1680x1050 with vsync and constant 60fps CRACKED so nocd needed
And I recall playing it on my friends 360. It was like jaggy, blurry, 30fps and requie disc insert,

Anyway. Pc might not be best in all aspects but oposite to consoles, PC USER IS A MASTER OF HIS MACHINE. So DRM are less of pc users to worry.

All this DRM is abhorent in principle but practically it's just a minor PITA.

Well I think you are missing the point - I think he's trying to tell us he's 100% not going to buy it now. They just lost a sale. Who wins now?

I think you missed MY point, in which all these people who are pissed off because of DRM or some other anti-piracy method are talking about pirating.

It just leads to the company eventually employing a more draconian method. As it stands, I have not had any issues with DRM for any of my games (including Borderlands).

And, if you are not going to buy something out of principle, why pirate it? I have refused to buy MW2 because I refuse to pay $59.99 for a game (unless it is a special edition) and am waiting for the price to drop. I have not pirated to make some kind of statement.

The more difficult to play, the more likely to torrent.

Wait, why would the steam version of Bioshock 2 ALSO use GFW? Bioshock 1 on steam never did....though not sure if ill be getting bioshock 2, as honestly, they need to do another System shock 2, or, do a game better resembling SS2 gameplay.

I was gonna post a big rant about DRM and piracy, and how publishers employing poor DRM are actually increasing the likely-hood of someone pirating their games, if not in the current game, but in future DRM ridden games if they experience issues with a DRM ridden game they buy.

But instead im just gonna say they need to employ a silent online check of some kind, without limited installs, and thats only with games who have a large SP element, as MP games are already well protected from piracy just by the nature of MP.

There has never been any correlation between DRM and the increase or decrease of internet piracy. The only Correlation there has been with Piracy, is that the higher the ratings are, or the higher the # of units sold, the higher it gets pirated, despite the use of DRM or no DRM. The only thing DRM has done is create another "excuse" or "justification" for pirates to pirate a game, though they would have pirated it anyways even if it didn't have DRM.

you would think that multi-million dollar franchises would invest some resources into researching anti-piracy measures. If DRM has no effect on piracy, and companies continue to spend $$ implementing DRM, they must have a bunch of bafoons working for them.
