One guy said that it's using biogame.exe instead of masseffect2.exe in the profile. Have you tried checking that?

Man no Mass Effect 2 for me today.. /sad panda

Tried playing through the first game last night, but the game suddenly crashed and 4 hours of game play went down the drain. The autosave function didn't really work it seems.

What are the benefits of continuing from an old savegame instead of going with an entirely new character?

You can have different sidestorys depending on your choices in the first game, some characters from ME1 will make a return (Conrad Verner, Gianna Parasini, some others). And you start at a higher level and start with a lot of resources (50000 of each) and money

Yeah, the game allows you to set some major decisions without a save file, but a save file will give you a lot more smaller decisions that effect the game as well. Also since I as level 50 in the original game I got some massive bonus money and resources.

True, Miranda is the new hawtz.

Spoiler Below, about Shepard's Face.

Also, explaining why Shepard's face is glowing will be a big spoiler for those who don't have it yet, but Shepard dies in the beginning of the game and is brought back to life by the Cerberus group because they want to use him. They worked on him on the cellular level for 2 years. He has implants now, too. Think "Darth Vader" or "The Bionic Man".
