GeForce GTX 480 and GeForce GTX 470.
As if the naming schemes weren't confusing enough. They already have coolers with the same name. |

Cool. With higher names they must be faster than the 380

What's the go here? Are they just skipping all odd numbers so it doesn't look odd when they skip the 5xx series?

Maybe it's time to change the sub-forum name to 'NVIDIA GeForce GTX 400 Series Forum'?
It does seem silly missing out the 300 series though. |

It seemed funny when they missed the 100 series too. Then they released a few low end cards as G1xx, GT1xx. So it's not all that surprising when you think about it.

Maybe Nvidia is changing the naming scheme all together. They did recently release new mobile hardware as a 300 series. Perhaps they are doing odd number series for mobile and even numbers for desktop hardware.

Or maybe they are trying to differentiate their DX11 lineup from the rest?
It would be weird, if they had DX11 high-end, mainstream and DX10.1 low-end. If there's gonna be DX11 low-end, it wouldn't make sense at all. |
