Mass Effect 2 is happy to work with disc 1 on the HD, disc 2 in the tray and no switching. Likely would be happy with both on the HD (if I had room). I've been playing it that way so I know it works. Others *shrug*

I believe it will work with discs 2 and 3. But to play the game you still need disc 1.

It will probably be similar to the setup with Forza 3 (install content from extra discs to the hard drive), except the additional discs aren't optional.

That's a very nice tutorial.

I going to give this a go. I got the 250 WD drive for $50. I just have to get a Torx T6 screwdriver and I can go upgrade the HD. I thought I had one but it was a T10.

The upgrade was easy. The hardest parts were finding a PC that was compatible with the hdhackr program, followed by the unable to restore my profiles till Win 7's UAC was completely disabled. It seems I lost my music I had on my system so I guess it must be stored elsewhere.

But it looks as if the upgrade was for nothing. Last night was the first time I turned on the 360 in a year, and for some reason everything has audio stuttering for no reason. And it is not the HD's fault. Even when removed trying to play any game causes some kind of audio stutter. There is a crackling sound when the 360 powers on and plays the startup sound.

I heard a rumor MS is going to change this policy on the 360 and offer either cheaper drives, an external drive (user changeable) or allow users to change the top/side mounted drive (like the PS3). I read it on another site, but could be BS. The rumor was centered around a new 360 Slim and it will be a new feature.

They are offering a new bigger drive (250Gb) for around the same price as the 120 was. So I guess it's cheaper... :: and they are going to let people use removable storage, but not devices more than 16Gb.

Yap. Perhaps they'll learn for the next console and do what Sony did.

they won't, they have a large army of idiots buying their overpriced hard drives, why would they turn away money?

Its not like they suddenly will have a conscience.

Looks like my 360 is fine. The optical cable went bad? I have no idea how that could happen. Long cable lots of slack no way it could have broke by accident cause it was in the back of my system and nothing has changed back there in a long time. Very weird and unexpected.

Cables degrade with use and environment. It happens.
