Just FYI AvP for $39.90 on gogamer is for the (I) import version. Not sure if it'll make a difference but you never know. The US version is ~$46. I am on the fence about this. I never played the original one but It sounds like a game I'd like since I like the movies.

Valve hasn't been doing too many preloads lately but their servers have been fine when a game finally unlocks. They can usually cope with the surge of bandwidth usage. I can usually get the max speed of my connection.

No.

It's a Steamworks game from everything I have read, so you can buy it in a store and still enjoy Valve's DRM if that is what you are worried about.

gamespot gave it a 5.5/10... ew
Looks like very mixed reviews... nothing close to AAA yet.

I'm going to hold off

I just watched that video review and from the sounds of it he just doesnt know how to play the game.

Says the controlls are clunky as the alien especially. Maybe he prefer the alien stay on the ground only?

I'll admit when first playing the demo i felt the same. But after 10 hours of the demo I disagree controls and melee system works great and once you learn to jump attack and block and use these in combination. Its fine the way it is in my book. Not perfect but it works. I'm still enjoying the demo and thats saying something considering I traditionaly cant stand DM.

I read the Gamespot review, I like every once in a while reviews like to say "all you do in this game is shoot stuff!!!" like that's some kind of revelation, and like massive hit games like Modern Warfare 2 aren't the same exact thing.

And yeah, complaining about the controls? They seemed fine to me in the demo.

Lame review, but I expect that to continue for AvP3. Rebellion does not have much weight in the industry and Sega is likely not hyping this to the media enough, so it will get butchered for tiny little things.

Listing of reviews:

* Empire Magazine 4/5
* Game Informer 5.75/10
* Gamers.AT 81%
* Seraphic Gaming 8.6/10
* OXM UK 8/10
* IGN UK 8.5/10
* Techdigest.TV 4/5
* PC Zone 82%
* Bit-Tech 7/10
* Polymania 3+/5
* GameReactor 6/10
* Everyeye.it 7.5/10
* Gamez.nl 86/100
* Jeuxactu.com 7/10 (SP)
* Games.Tiscali 7/10
* Gram.pl 4/6
* GamingXP.com 84%
* Gamespot 5.5/10
* Fz.se 2/5
* Eurogamer.it 7/10

Taken from HERE (there are also links to a couple of them). A lot of complaints are a bit shallow or indicative of the reviewer not really being a fan of the series; for example Game Informer complains about the sound of the motion tracker, there being too many aliens to shoot, and having to be stealthy as a Predator. It's like the guy hadn't heard of Aliens or Predators before playing the game. I think it's clear that while the game isn't particularly revolutionary or anything, it will satisfy an Aliens (or Predator) fan looking for a more modern take on the franchise.

I'm mainly getting it for SP and perhaps MP survival mode. Don't really care about DM or even team DM for this type of game....

I hope the reviewers are just idiots.
