I removed all signs of nouveau and nvidiafb using "rpm -e nouveau nvidiafb". I had also tried placing those single entries in the blacklist.conf file as you suggested.

I tried a 3 line simple xorg.conf as well, but reverted back to the one that I'd been using since there was no difference while starting X.

All this being done, I created another nvidia-bug-report (attached).

That's weird to use nomodeset on the grub line while targeting a driver that doesn't support modesetting.

nouveau.ko and nvidiafb.ko are part of the kernel itslef, so none wants to remove it.

Once that said, nouveau and/or nvidiafb might appear on the initramfs. So earch time you change the blacklist.conf (or another file like /etc/modprobe.d/*.conf ), you might have to regenerate the initramfs as said in http://rpmfusion.org/Howto/nVidia#he...10901a51109b05

Note: packages for 195.26.08 will be available on the next fedora's kernel push for F12.
you can get it using:
yum update kmod-nvidia-$(uname -r) xorg-x11-drv-nvidia --enablerepo=rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing,updates-testing

yum update kmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia --enablerepo=rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing,updates-testing
if you want the 2.6.32 kernel in fedora's updates-testing repository.

Once the initramfs is recreated, you can use:
nvidia-config-display enable to tweak configuration to use the nvidia drivers.

I noticed that comment blacklist.conf top text block, indicating that the driver name should appear on a separate line. Try adding the "nouveau riche" and "nvidiafb" on a separate line (no "black list") blacklist.conf. If this fails, you can try to uninstall style and nvidiafb. Should be along the "RPM-E upstart nvidiafb" thing, or what the package name and NVIDIA upstart occur. If no package name is not the nouveau riche and nvidiafb, do the "RPM-Q style nvidiafb", it should display the correct package name

No news from the NVIDIA driver, the log file, and there is no indication, continue to load the NVIDIA driver. However, nouveau driver is loaded, this may be the root of the problem. Please ensure that the upstart and Plymouth have not been loaded and is configured to use the NVIDIA X driver, and then run NVIDIA NVIDIA error report.sh and attention to result in an error report.log.gz file.
