Default IRQ Disabled on linux - 2.6.33, GeForce 8700M GT, SLI hangs

My primary issue is that when I enable SLI, the screen goes black and the system entirely freezes. I cannot shell in or reboot the system with the keyboard, and if I have an active shell open it freezes as well.

When I do not have SLI enabled, I recieve somewhat disturbing errors:
irq 16: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option)
Pid: 3599, comm: X Tainted: P #1
Call Trace:
 [<c17a118d>] ? printk+0x17/0x1a
 [<c107cf74>] ? __report_bad_irq+0x24/0x90
 [<c107d130>] ? note_interrupt+0x150/0x190

[<f9c7b280>] (nv_kern_isr+0x0/0x70 [nvidia])
Disabling IRQ #16
Additionally, when I attempt to switch back to a text tty from X, the screen simply goes black and does not display the framebuffer content one would expect. Returning to X works fine.

I have tried linux, and, with both 190.53 and 195.30, and each time recieved various combinations of hangs and black screens, always with the same "irq 16: nobody cared" in the kernel log. I tried linux 2.6.33, but the nvidia driver will not even install with it.
