People are just upset that there's preloads everywhere else besides steam. And the fact that apparently they did have the intention of doing it.

What pisses me off is that it will "unlock" and then the servers will be overloaded, which means that my download will be complete and ready by midnight tomorrow night. FAIL.

Steam has done preloads for quite a few games, I don't see why they have to be the one who doesn't do it. Just epic fail IMO.

See you guys in the game on Friday, thanks to Steam . . . .

I know this may sound bad, but screw it. I don't want to have crap download speeds via Steam tomorrow and then have to wait until the next day to play it.

I'm gonna get the game content from *insert place here* and then when it "unlocks", I'll copy the files over to my Steamapps folder and verify the game cache. This way I will be ready to install at 3PM tomorrow afternoon with the key Steam gives me.

The date checker didn't run this last time I tried to run the game. It installed an update, and I got into the main menu. Didn't check servers yet.

w00t!!

I just played a couple conquest maps. Thanks EA for letting EA store preorders get in a little early!!

Earliest impression: HBAO doesn't hit performance as hard. Things feel pretty well polished up.

Only screenie I took so far:

1280x720, 2xAA/16xAF, everything on high, HBAO on... and FOV tweaked in the INI file (thanks DICE!!) to 90:

... on these two maps I was getting a VERY smooth 45-85fps, and that's on the rig with the weaker x3 2.7ghz Athlon, although it has the slightly stronger HD4870.
