Steam has done preloads for quite a few games, I don't see why they have to be the one who doesn't do it. Just epic fail IMO.

People say this but I have never personally seen this happen and I have preordered a lot of big titles from steam lately and all have given me my max download speed.

I've had at least two games (Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2) to be extremely slow downloading and/or preloading if it was available. I actually remember Fallout 3 taking half a day to download; the server load was just too much for Steam.

Yeah that was a long time ago though. I used to get not so great download speeds too. But say within the past year or so I have had no problems at all. Though it could be a more local thing as far as content servers are concerned.

"Officially" DICE claims they are still working on issues with the preload. But they admit it might not happen because "Given that we are trying to make the game release in the US in about 2.5h preloading for that region will make a minimal difference." So maybe they will end up unlocking earlier than what the counter says.

The game feels a LOT faster. FRAPS is showing a bit of framerate improvement, but there's a tangible smoothness/quickness in the full release that I feel adds some speed. I'm having a hard time keeping up.

I hated the demo, but I will be buying the game on Friday just to support DICE for their efforts. I also have faith that they fixed some if not most of the issues in the beta.

Just "pre-ordered" mine from Best Buy (even though it launches in less than 24 hours lol). Should arrive at my place within the week.

I pre-ordered / pre-payed at the local GameStop at about 9:00PM this evening. I go back at 11:30PM and pick up the game. By midnight I'll be installed and playin.
