Default VDPAU "B" H264 resolution limitations - few questions

Hello everyone.

I wanted to ask about this:

Quote:
All feature set B hardware cannot decode H.264 for the following widths: 769-784, 849-864, 929-944, 1009-1024, 1793-1808, 1873-1888, 1953-1968, 2033-2048 pixels.
1.Does this apply to VDPAU "A" hardware as well, or is it only "B" cards limitation?
2.Is it only temporary limitation that will be eliminated with new VDPAU/drivers release or is it permanent for "B" hardware?

Thanks in advance.

The limitation only applies to feature set B hardware, but note that there are at least two hardware designations that were used for different VDPAU feature sets (including B): Geforce 84000 GS and G105M

There is some indication (search the large MPlayer VDPAU thread) that it is unlikely to get fixed (note that one Adobe Flash Player release note claims something else).

I don't believe this will be fixed; it's a HW limitation. The Adobe Flash Player release note is incorrect.

@Stephen Warren:

How can this be hardware issue? I mean come on, VDPAU on my GF 9100M can handle FullHD videos, so why can't it handle a video with resolution as low as 854x480 for example? Could You please explain this a little?

Thank you.

This is a bug not a performance issue, hence why other larger widths are not affected. I can't discuss any internal details of the bug, sorry.
