Remember this

"Next generation starts when we say it does."

All PS3s internal clocks are set to 1/1/2000

I pretty much only play games on XBL. So with XBL down, for me, it did practically prevent games from being started.

I didn't have a problem either. I was able to play Madden all weekend without a problem.

Games that dont used trophys work fine. But games like Star Ocean Heavy Rain and others wont play.

Just took my PS3 apart (warranty is already expired..)

Pulled the battery for 5 mins put it back togeather and worked on the first try. It reset the clock I set it for the correct date (today) and it works great again.

While I was in there I removed the old thermal and put some AS5 (To Help prevent any future heating problems as im on my own now)

Well, I took a trip through the PS3 forums just now and if this is to 'fix' itself, it will happen w/i the next hour based on GMT (it will be midnight there in about 45 minutes from the time of my post here).

If not, Sony has a lot of 'splaining to do...especially if a firmware update cannot resolve as some PS3 forumgeeks have alluded to.

Recall? Crap, I hope not.

SONY.....the new TOYOTA, just spelled differently.

I'm not gonna void my warranty over this so I'm just gonna wait this out.
Thanks for the confirmation that the fix actually works tho

did you get all your trophies back too?

Just wait another 30 or so minutes for GMT reset....some fat 60Gig owners are just starting to report the problem is now gone.

Now how that is the case before GMT midnight, I have no idea.

Yeah, I saw reports too just now

I'm gonna start up my console now and see whats up. Here in sweden it's March 2nd now.

EDIT:
Works fine from what I can tell, I dont have heavy rain yet so i cant try with that.
Got Tekken 6 that installs trophy support up on launch so thats the only thing i can think of to try with, and it too works just fine.

The only thing is, date is one day of, says March 1st, but it's March 2nd here in sweden now.
