Remember guys. Gamepads have been used on PC since well, forever. I can remember having a gamepad for my PC since the early nineties.

Well in those days FPS was a 2D game, that is hardly what I was speaking about.

You said it right, when mouse look came around joystick support died. Why? Because mouse is better. Huzzah.

Now it is back a bit, because of the popularity of console FPS, but still I would not consider it a standard feature.

And yes, gamepads have been on PC forever, and I love my Xbox PC pad, I use it often. Just not for FPS. That's silly.

Along with pretty much every game that was also available on Xbox or Xbox 360.

I'll be the first to admit FPS on gamepad is awkward, but I will tolerate it to play some of the console exclusive FPSes. Some are just too good to pass up. Things did look good when UT on PS3 had keyboard and mouse support, but it didn't really carry through to other games. Would love it for Killzone 2.

I like having controller support for FPS games so that when my console friends come over and I show them how awesome FPSes look and run on my PC, they can use the controller and run around without mucking up my keyboard or mouse (OCD - don't touch my stuff!!!).

Though I also love my 360 controller for 3rd person games like Tomb Raider, Batman, Assassins Creed and Prototype. I prefer a hand held wheel for my driving games, but again that's PC versatility in action!

I'm glad Jane and Lynch has controller support because I can coop it with a buddy.

Same with Left 4 Dead 2.

Halo 2, strangely, cut out coop for PC. WTF?

Disconnect your PC from the 50" HDTV, and go put it in a small room with a 19" monitor like it's supposed to be! Microsoft says you can't game on the big screen, which is why there's no coop for Halo 2. How can there be? You can't sit two people behind a desk in a home office!

Halo 2 needs the intimate feel of a huge HDTV and couch with people around.

Halo 2 for Vista is for sure better with the 360 pad on a TV. So with a pretty spankin' rig that makes it look awesome @ 720p or 1080p, a large display, a couch and a comfortable and well-mapped controller, it ends up being played the way the developers intended it to be, actually. And it's NICE. Same goes for Gears of War, Lost Planet, the UT3 SP material, and the Far Cry 2 SP campaign.

Oh and even Portal.
