So why don't companies put demos out anymore? I understand that it's "just one more thing to do" when trying to release a game, but geez. Releasing a demo would make me stop "downloading" and "trying the game before buying". I just want to make sure I get my money's worth.

I kinda disagree. Watching videos/looking at screenshots and actually playing a demo are two different things IMO.

I agree, more demos would be good.

But games with demos are pirated as much as games without demos, so... whatever.

And way to go at ignoring the list... riding the justification train to justification station.

Not true, I complain about things they do often, I just don't consider them THE ENEMY like so many people do. They make awesome games for me to play, I buy them, it's a co-dependent relationship.

We need them.

So, do you also sneak into the cinema theatre to watch a movie, and then after watching it, you pay for it, if you like it?

No. They need us. We don't have to roll over and take it up the ass every time they do something ridiculous, but some people here make it sound like it'll be the end of PC gaming if you don't buy the game, voice your opinion, or boycott the company/release. If PC gaming is really this frail, then it should fail.

Ubisoft chose this solution. They made it possible.

Problem is that peoples option in voicing their opinion or boycotting the company usually is pirating the games for the company... which don't help their cause.

No one says that talking harshly about a company and voicing your opinion is bad, but it doesn't end there. It usually goes like this...

Angry Gamer: "I hate their DRM! I will never go buy their game!"
Norm Gamer: "So you wont play it?"
Angry Gamer: "Yeah I will, I just wont buy it!"

If a 30 to 60 s trailer is enough for you to decide to watch a movie then watching a few game trailers and maybe reading a few reviews should give you enough info to decide to buy, or not buy a game without resorting to criminal activity...

You assume quite a bit, and you generally assume the worst. You're a very disagreeable person to be around. I imagine the people behind these sordid types of DRM share your same mindset... Treat everyone like a criminal by default.
