Even after four hours of play, I told myself, "Once I get past these boring tutorial stages, the actual game is going to be great." As I slogged through a mission to canvass Empire Bay's local gas stations and sell off extra fuel stamps, the truth dawned on me: This was the actual game. Mafia II was having me play stamp salesman, and it wasn't even kidding.
Haha the game hasn't even even really started going at that point. It is a little slow to start.

Also I'm not buying that the world feels empty and "unlived" in compared to GTA IV. GTA IV's world is not that special, end of story. That's not to say Mafia II's is that much either. But I'm failing to see what GTA IV has "extra" in its world.

Also one review said the police was very bad but I don't know what the hell they were talking about because they are freaking brutal at times. They're all carrying around tommy guns.

I hope it does. Honestly for me it IS one of the best games I've ever played. I'd gladly buy it again on PC, just for the mods.

As for the police. I'm still waiting for M2, but M1, oh man how I hated those guys. The cops in GTA were pussies compared to Mafia. I think perhaps they were too good. I mean in was the 1930s, surely they could co-ordinate that well. It was a really good feeling when I bested them though (They do have a weakness for switching cars, something that annoyed me in GTA, the cops can track you no matter the car you are in)

I found the police more annoying then anything in gta4. im running through it now using a mod that allows me to keep em from chasing me if I so much as fart in their direction.

Going from GTA to Mafia is a shock when in mafia you get busted for running red lights, speeding and crashing into other cars. Glad the town was small in Mafia, obeying road rules would suck in GTAIV.

EDIT: Good news everyone. AU Release jumped forward again. In 3 hours I can start downloading. Sigh. No preload. ::

In Mafia II they can track you by car (license plate) those can be changed in repair shops or simply ditch the car and get a new one. And by your description, change your outfit and your good.

Oh and don't cause accidents or speed by the cops

took you four hours to get to the stamps? And that was excellent two part mission, first with break in and then quick driving around the town.

BTW, game has not really started yet. wait till you get sent on "vacation"

I am loving the game, have my wheel hooked up and driving is great.I still can not believe they did not support wheels in the game,I mean really WTF is that 2k.A driving game with no wheel support blows me away.
The little details in the game are amazing and I got maybe 15+ hrs in ,just enjoying the game.

LOL while playing in chapter 10.
I guess I hit fraps record by mistake.Me screwing around shooting some stuff.(recorded the damm thing maybe 10 times having fun)
I guess I was so into playing I could not tell the difference with the FPS hit when recoring with fraps. This part has been seen a bunch of times before,so no spoiler I guess.

Part of chapter 10
