So I'm liking the game more now that I restarted - I was skipping all the cutscenes and story just to get some action to test out FPS... I can't decide how to play.

I can play decently in two ways... either 1920x1200 on High with AAA and 4xAF or 1680x1050 on Very High with AAA and 16xAF. Obviously the jaggies drive me nuts at the non-native resolution, but I'm getting a lot higher FPS.

Where are the GTX 480's when you need them?

One on the left is 1920 High, one on the right is 1680 Very High:

FOV and other hack settings work, you have to follow this updated guide:

Quote:
Tweaks:

1.Adjust user settings

There is two user.cfg

One is located in your:
appdata/local/4agames/metro2033

The other is in your steam folder under: userdata/*youraccountnumber*/43110/remote

If you want to tweak any setting under this you will need to edit one, save it, and then copy it over the other.

There is a third in the metro 2033 directory but it is not used.
FOV 60 looks great to me... performance still is meh, despite messing with some stuff.

This is a very good linear FPS... the game world feels VERY alive, which I love... might be the most real and alive feeling FPS world since Half-Life 2. The action is rather standard, but there is always an air of desperation due to the lack of ammo and fast moving enemies. The feel of the game is very polished, much more than STALKER or other Russian games if you ask me.

Performance is up and down... I put the game on normal eventually and I get 60fps looking one way and 30fps looking the other. Seems that there are some effects which really kill performance, but it won't let you mess with effects individually, which is annoying.

Even without a profile, this game works great in 3D Vision. All the particles have depth, and it really contributes to the atmosphere of the game. You have to run it in DX9 mode though. Hopefully when GTX 480 comes out there will be a driver update to run this in DX11 in 3D Vision, but I'll suspect you'll need two in SLI to even get playable framerates.
