Default Steam for the FTMFW (BF:BC2 related)

http://kotaku.com/5495130/battlefield-drops-securom-drm

Dam EA and their awesome moves regarding DRM and respecting their user base!

Quote:
The Steam version of EA's Battlefield Bad Company 2 is about to get a new patch, and amidst the little tweaks and fixes is some welcome news: the game's SecuROM DRM software will also be uninstalled.

It's the latest in a series of moves by publisher EA, which has scaled back the influence of SecuROM in its PC games in recent months following the disastrous launch of Spore. Dragon Age never had it, Mass Effect's was removed, and now this.

There should never be any Securom in the first place. Not really a commendable move as it's already un-necessary, but ok.

Wow, DICE really is working hard... Glad to have developers like them around.

It must be getting too expensive to provide support for all the issues this securom crap causes.

It's nice to hear, though I feel bad for EA they already paid SecuROM for the license on all the steam games sold already.

Great news.

EA is definitely trying to win over the PC gamers.

I still can't believe that they let you skip the intro movies in Bad Company 2. I've had to delete or move the video files from every single EA game over the past 10 years just to get the main menu in a reasonable amount of time. You can just hit escape in this game though and it skips all of them.

SecuROM is the biggest POS. I have had issues before in Bioshock that wouldn't let me play the game because it kept telling me the disc was a copy even though I was staring at the game box. Then they use illegal characters in their registry keys, so it's a PITA to delete them and reset it.

Hahaha... what? Steam games are extremely easy to pirate.

And FYI, the retail game has a disc check only option, so this was just catch-up.
