My need is actually quite simple but I'm a retard and need some careful explaining.
I want to add some text to a picture but I want to fancy-up the letters a bit. Nothing major, just some white black letters with a black outline, maybe something embossed as well. Also maybe with a frame around it. Thanks.

Are you being sarcastic or did someone really help you? It says your posts are at 3:21AM and 4:46AM so I don't know who the hell you expect to be on at that time.
Specialized Text: 1. Use Text tool (looks like a T). Draw an area on the picture and type what you want. The font type/size options are at the top. Hit the green check mark at the top when your done. 2. Right click on the layer on the right side and click Rasterize Type 3. Select the text layer with the select tool, then go to the Filter menu. This has a lot of effects you can apply. If you want to raise it go to Styline->Emboss. And Sarah Palin says quit using the word "retard", you retard. ![]() |

After that you have to go to Layer -> Rasterize Layer, and then, while having the layer selected, go to Edit -> Stroke, select the color of the outer outlining, choose the pixel width (typically 1 or 2 pixels suffice, but your result may vary depending upon what kind of outlining you want to achieve), and... Voila! :P I can lend you a hand with the edit if you want, PM me and I can give you my msn if you want :P Julio |

Never rasterize a type layer!
Just use the text tool, but click once! Don't draw a square(that way you don't get an irritating bounding box). Right click on the text layer and select "Blending Options". From that menu you have a plethora of different things to choose from. ![]()
