It's not out for another week here. Gives me time to play the first 2. Prob skip the expansions this time... Can't wait. :: I hear while the graphics are dated, the gameplay and story is pretty good.

Hey crainger!

Yeah, so far the combat is a bit more frantic, but the AI isn't quite as 'smart' as earlier games.

I'm only about 25 minutes into it, but it's definitely a FEAR game, not as impressive so far as FEAR 1 or the first XP, but not too bad either.

If graphics are the main reason someone buys a game this one isn't for you - storyline? Not far enough into it to comment. I'll avoid the "Console" comments for now, but expect to hear it a lot from others.

Honestly, those shots look like a traditional FEAR kinda' shot, just with some low res textures... likely a limitation from the consoles carried over to the PC version. I also see a lot of motion blur and DOF, betting they're relying on those two to kinda' mask the poor textures.

Not too big a deal for me. The lighting and such looks awesome imo. Not sure I'd pay $50 for it, going off of your shots and feedback thus far. But maybe $30 or so.

I've yet to play the second expansion for the first FEAR, as well as FEAR 2. Should probably go through and beat those first, then think about getting this one.

There's no doubt it's a FEAR game - plays the same, very smooth. no glitches or bugs, but it's early yet. If you take the overall art direction as a whole, it works for what it is and carries the atmosphere pretty well.

Like I said though, if someone wants to zoom in on textures and post screens of them....nothing to really see here.

I forgot to mention what seems to be a 2 weapon limitation. Thing is I don't know yet if it's just for the weapon class or if you're limited through out the game.

The little I've played so far is fun, but so far nothing jaw dropping or out of the ordinary from FEAR 2. Time will tell.

I really liked the first FEAR...graphically it was ahead of its time, its sad that this looks like a big mess.

I remember how badly that beat up on my SLI'd 7800's - I think those days are gone for a lot of games.

On the plus side I won't need to upgrade my 480 for quite some time.

I'm willing to give it a chance, obviously

I enjoyed FEAR 2 in spite of the changes, so I'm hoping the action and storyline carries over to this one. I've got a feeling it won't take long to find out given the small size of the download, unless that's only due to the super low rez textures. We'll see.

This is also something I'm pretty concerned about. I enjoy SP far more the MP, so if it's a really short SP campaign then I'm willing to pay far less for it. I'd hope for a minimal of 6 hours, preferably 8 or more, to be the SP campaign.

Screens looks indeed crap but maybe the gameplay will be decent. Fear2 wasnt that bad really but nothing will beat the first one.

Yup, it's definitely a FEAR game. Getting better with every step. Still nothing new to speak of, but the combat is decent, the atmosphere is what it should be, and Alma is still as cute as ever.

They've also introduced a ranking system for your abilities. I can now slide kick lol. I wonder if they left the vials in for slowmo and health or if that increases via ranking as well.

It isn't great - but so far I don't regret buying it. Co-op will likely be fun also.
