that is not bad, while it is loud, it comparable to other cards.

I'm happy the GTX470/480 isn't a bust. It's nice to see some competition in the market but I think I'm going to wait even further. Noise and heat are a big issue to me plus honestly I only play computers games if I can't get it for my PS3 anymore. I'm not all about insane resolutions and fancy settings. The biggest PC game I play at the moment is World Of Warcraft and my 4870 handles that just fine. The next games I'll probably end up getting for PC will be SC2 and Diablo 3 but by that time ATI and most likely NVIDIA will have there refresh out.

Keep up the good work NIVIDIA and ATI because in the end we all win.

I wonder once drivers mature a bit more we will see even more performance out of these cards.

So heres a question... Stay with my current setup or switch to XFire 5850 or a single 5870? GTX 480 is out of the question since its $100 more then the 5870 and offers very little improvement.
I have nothing against ATi but I'm such an nVidia profile tweaker and nHancer enthusiast that I'd hate to lose all those functions Plus I do sorta like to have the option of hardware PhysX.

Right now I'm either going to hold off (unlikely as I always say that and never can) or going with a similar approach as to last time and go with a pair of GTX 470's as that may be enough improvement over my current to be worthwhile.

10-15% faster is about what I was expecting but hoped for more from the GTX480, I can't think of a single reason to recommend these cards to anyone.

If you waited then it's not a straight forward choice, and if you already have a HD5870 or HD5850 then just buy another one and enjoy the show.
