You have to use the display port output as well if you want to run 3 monitors on one 5870. So you would need a converter if you have a regular DVI monitor. Although do you just need one of those el-cheapo DP-to-DVI converters, or do you need one of the expensive active adapters that also require some source of power as well?

Also, if you have Crossfire 5870s, could you run Eyefinity from 3 of the DVI ports across both of the cards (like how NVIDIA Surround will work)?

The immersion should be great though!

Having three display outputs is also great for HTPCs. I really hope it becomes the new standard.
Trust me its smooth. Might only get 2xaa but you sit back a lil further when you play.

I would have not sold my 2nd card if 1 card was not enough to get a great eyefinity experience.

I play BFBC2 MW2 AVP and many others maxed out with 2xaa. I dont even have my card overclocked and the games play great. If i was getting bad performance I have the money to buy another card or 2 but I dont need it right now. Id rather spend on other things.

For higher res you need a powered adapter. 1920 and up for lower than 1920 some people get away with a displayport to VGA adapter.

You should be able to in future driver releases. they have shown it worked this way with in tech shows. Just not available yet.

According to the benchmarks, one 5870 isn't really enough to drive three displays. http://www.anandtech.com/show/3621/a...ion-reviewed/7

You might not be picky about your frame-rate, but once you get used to 60+ it's hard going back to anything lower. One 5850 isn't doing it for me so a second one is on its way.
Three screens look very good, but I'd prefer using my 1080p projector and some anti-aliasing.

ATI cheating in Crysis

Don't think one comparison shot is enough to call this one, but the angle independent AF should make a difference in ATI's favor here and that clearly isn't the case.

Am I the only one getting tired of reviews being linked in German/Dutch?

No offense to you, Toss. This just seems to be happening a lot lately. This is an English speaking forum, so one would expect links in English.

Yeah I know, but they are the only ones to do proper IQ tests. Even if you can't read German the pics at the bottom should make the situation clear.

Yeah, I'm looking at the pictures, but it still isn't clear. It's nice to have some context to go by.

Trying a google translate, but it's almost as bad as trying to read German.

You can clearly see three different lines in the ATI screenshot.

Maybe I need a bigger screen. I'm on my laptop at the moment.

I mean, yeah, I see the dots in the all-black screenshot, but how does that impact the IQ in the game itself? The in-game screenshots look identical.

Edit: Ok, got it on a bigger screen and I can see the IQ is crisper on the GeForce. Going to research this more.

WTH? Funny how no other review site out there is reporting this. Think it's time someone did an actual IQ comparison because those shots look horrible.

The more I look at this, the more it seems exaggerated.

Is there a difference? A slight one. Unless you click on the link that changes the image, it is very difficult to see. There's a section in the middle of the image that's slightly blurred on the ATI shot and is clearer on the Geforce, but other than that? Meh. The rest of the image is identical.

This looks like grasping at straws in the wake of the Fermi meltdown (pun intended.) Don't get me wrong.. I despise either Nv or ATI in any case they may degrade IQ to boost benchmarks, but I don't see this as proof of anything thus far since the IQ is so close between the images. By the way, isn't this the same site that went on and on about ATI's "microstutter" that very few of us users ever seem to experience?

The fact that this issue hasn't been reported anywhere else out of the hundreds of benches that have been done, I think, speaks loudly. If this were so obvious then others would've picked up on it. Looks more to me like they're sitting there with their magnifying glass just looking for something to nitpick.

Many of the guys over on XS are saying pretty much the same thing. Even bipartisan folk.
