Personally, I care more about meaningful boosts to min FPS in demanding games. If one card is beating another 120FPS vs 100 avg I couldn't care less. I want to see a card move a game from a 14-18FPS min to a 30 min or higher. That's what makes me want to buy. Outside of those scenarios, I don't care.

Nvidia's cards definitely show they have tesselation power, it does make me wonder when the difference really can show in games.

I guess AMD could increase tesselation strength for their next GPU.

Crysis is still pretty important. It is still PC gaming's poster child.
Yup they did, but I'd rather have the driver team focus on newer titles.

This guy is full of crap. I've seen Metro maxxed out at 1920x on my friend's 5870 Crossfire system, and it was pinned at 60fps the entire time.

Troll.

Edit: Apologies. I called my friend to verify and he mentioned that he had unchecked tesselation and DOF but had everything else turned on. Didn't know that when I saw it the other day.

The tesselation is not as good as you may think...

GTX 480 = 39 FPS / $500.00
SLI 480's = 56 FPS / $1000.00
ATI 5970 = 48 FPS / $650.00
Dual 5970's = 94 FPS / $1300.00

It beats it handily in most titles from what I see, but with that said, I'm very impressed at what I see of 480. It's an extremely stout single GPU card and would be a great option for those who don't already have a 5970 in their boxes.

Sucker sure does suck down some power, though. More than a 5970 under load, wow. And 93C on load. *whistles*

I just saw it in person last week. I'll get him to confirm again what his settings were, but from what I could tell everything was turned on. And that's usually how we run stuff.

In fact, I recall specifically him mentioning to me that it ran better in DX11 and that's what he was playing it in.

Edit: He did have his cards overclocked to 1000MHz, though. I forgot about that.

Isn't nvidia using driver optimizations (cheats) to obtain these high perf tesselation result's?
I thought I read that somewhere.
