480 scaling very well in SLI on Metro.

Both Crossfire and SLI seem to scale well on this game. Needs the GPU power.

HardOCP has a very good review

They compare the 5970 to SLI 480s
5870 to 480
5850 to 470

And they push the cards hard with high resolutions and AA.

Wow this thing is barely performing better then 5870... man those prerelease benchmarks were so full of it.

Crossfire 5870 and 480 SLI neck and neck on Crysis, although a single 5870 outperforms 480.

Comparing the high end -- 5970 takes down 480 by almost 50% (45.9 vs 31.9.)

It does excel in certain games but the heat is a big issue, especially for those of us who were planning on running more than one.

Again, they are nice cards but I think Nvidia really needed more time (which they simply didn't have) to release an all round 'killer' product.

Problem for me is that price vs performance is really poor. If this thing is really $499 then its so not worth it unless your a die hard nvidia fan. It only beats the 5870 rarely and even then its never by a significant amount.

I agree with you mate. I'm not overly impressed.

Same here. I'm wondering what AMD's refresh will throw into the mix.

They've had a long time to develop their lead and I suspect the refreshes will only further it at this point.

Nvidia is going to be playing catch up for a little longer I suspect.

Can we have a brand new official thread (separate from Mike's review thread) perhaps?

Mods?

Since this is no longer a preview

Thanks much

Crossfire 5870 appears out in front on many of these. Granted it is by a hair on this bench.
