I wonder what's happened to Mike's review. He's done a runner!

I think so too. It's a powerhouse for sure - I just don't want to invest in another powerhouse PSU to run 2 of them.

So far the couple of reviews I've read seem fairly consistent, looking forward to Mike's and Atech's - can't access their site atm.

Wow.

480 SLI eats up ~250w more under load than 5870 Crossfire.

Efficiency is important and I'd be happy if the 480s were a little more power hungry and ran a little hotter combined with a significant performance increase.

From what I've read today, they run way hotter with a far larger energy premium with insignificant performance gains (for the most part).

663 - Ouch, that's madness, especially when you compare it to 5870 CF.

Wow... the power consumption is totally outrageous.

This is going to be tough sell.

HardOCP also has a video of max fan speed in furmark for 480, 470, 5870, 5850. 480 can get pretty loud and hot.

Yeah. Not impressed at all in how it measures up to Crossfire 5870 in either power or performance at the moment. But you have to figure that SLI will probably take longer to work out with the drivers.

That has to sting a bit right now, though.

No arguments from me - cool, quiet and priced reasonably are my determining factors, so the 5870 has the lead there so far.

I'm sure aftermarket coolers will appear soon enough to handle the heat and noise, but the performance gain isn't enough for me when considering that extra cost as well.

Then again, I'll be upgrading from a 4870 512, so either one is a massive increase for me.

not that impressed. i will be getting the 5870 based on these results.

Also i lol this part from MikeC review

"- 2560x1600 - 8x AA - 781% over the GeForce GTX 280 and 1,497% over the GeForce GTX 295"

hehe!.

The power/heat and price does not make it much appealing over the 5870 4 me.

And grey we are both on the same boat too =)

Just ordered 2 Sapphire 5870s (my second set this year) and a 980x. I can't justify buying Nvidia this time round and I've waited patiently for today to make a final decision.

Hopefully they'll refine the design in the future to make it a little more attractive.
