58xx sales are going to soar now. I'm glad I got mine before they were out of stock (I just got the order confirmation)
I don't think these cards will live long enough, i am expecting them to be replaced with 512 CUDA Version in 32nm design with much less power requirement and less heat.

Also the brute force method of Nvidia is getting really old. More heat, more power, more, more, more just to compete with a very efficiently designed HD5870. They need to start fresh, Fermi wasn't it....
Fermi was design from scratch and it has a great potential.

What??? Hell of doom, the posterboy of Nvidia fanboyism, is sticking w/ ATI and ordering another 5870?? The same cards he bashed earlier in the week as "crap"??

Amazing.......guess even he can see that the Fermi cards are a big disappointment.

They aren't a dissapointment compared to what i'm currently running. In fact it is 2x the performance, so i'd be happy enough.

If ATI had some sort of 3D solution, I would have gotten a couple of 5870's by now. But no way i'm going back to 2D gaming. So a couple of 480's will do me for now.

Yep and they are garbage cause Nvidia was too concerned with trying to compete with Intel. ATI designed a better GPU, Nvidia was trying to catch the moon and ended up with this thing.

So the 480 shaders rumor turned out to be true? I didn't even believe that one myself... odd. I can't imagine that they couldn't even get the rare, top of the line, $500 card to fully work... theres got to be some at least, one wonders if there will be like a super limited run of "Ultra" cards or something.

Erm i am not sure what is with hell of doom...i think two people must be using the account or he has some issues....he bashed the ATi series constantly everyday and now posts he will get another 5870 for Tri Xfire....So basically...ignore this guy, there is no value in anything he has to say whether its pro ati or pro nvidia.

GTX 480 and its much bigger GPU – it’s hotter, it’s noisier, and it’s more power hungry, all for 10-15% more performance

As for NVIDIA’s ecosystem, the situation hasn’t changed much from 2009. NVIDIA continues to offer interesting technologies like PhysX, 3D Vision, and CUDA’s wider GPGPU application library. But none of these are compelling enough on their own, they’re merely the icing on the cake.
From aandtech, basically sums up the the GTX 480.
