To be exact what I mean is. AMD strategy since HD 38** is to have the fastest graphic card with multi GPU. NVIDIA is trying to achieve the same with one large chip.

The main reason for the GTX 295 was to have the fastest graphic card beating the HD 4870x2.

Both GTX 400 and HD 5000 series cards are new generation DX11 cards that's where they compete. Just because the NVIDIA card were delayed, it doesn't make any difference. I'm sure AMD must have had some idea about the GTX 400 cards performance.

If not they should have listen to Charlie. JUST KIDDING

Any pro review of 470 triple-sli yet? Kinda strange why so few have done it, considering it's in the exact same price range as two 480s. fasedww's benchies show that 3 470s is clearly a faster setup in most scenarios.

4.2 FPS for the 5870 with DoF and Tesselation on (4xAA, 16xAF) in Metro 2033

That review really shows that the 480 is a far better performer than the 5870 in DX11 when AA/AF is introduced.

I would say you are right. I would honestly think the 5870 would do way better than that. After all there isn't really that much of a performance difference between them.

If you look at the benches the 5870 is fine until 4xAA and 16xAF is enabled. Its's fine at 1 x AA/AF. Also, that particular link is DX11 overall performance, not just Metro 2033. It shows the 480 with an average 32% advantage over the 5870 in DX11.

Here is the 2033 link :

http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/g...itt_metro_2033

Even if 'beidem' is Physx, the 480 is still outperforming the 5870 by way more than 15% with DOF and/or tessellation with 4xAA/16xAF enabled.

In most of my testing, any level of AA/AF has little effect on 480 scores. The same cannot be said for the 5870.

I thought from what I have read in the past that ATI does AA really well with very little performance hit. Maybe it is just DX11.

CB doesn't mention PhysX. But they say that 1GB is not enough for maxed out settings including AA. And that the ATI card really struggles with AA in this game.
Cool. Thanks for the explanation. I couldn't read it.

Same, thanks for the explanation Slawter.

I had a feeling it meant 'both' but I wasn't sure so I thought I'd wait for clarification
