I would be interested to see the 2GB ver of the 5870 benched w/ Metro. That would end the speculation about the seemingly lower fps when comparing it to the 480.

There is no denying that going from a single card to a dual card setup scales extremely impressively with these new cards. We will just have to wait for some more mature drivers for 3-way SLI.

It may not be drivers that are holding it back; it could be the CPU. If you look at the most demanding game like Metro, tri-SLI scales around 50% and pretty close as going from one card to two. For less demanding games that already run fast on the GPU, you're going to see less of an increase because you're hitting your CPU ceiling.

It's the price of these cards that's their main problem IMO. If you're on a limited budget it's hard to justify.

Ya' it looks like the GTX 465 may end up being like the HD 5830, or that is, not attractive to many folks. A good budget card is the 5770, they're as low as 135usd. For around 300usd you may as well get the 5850 and OC it to 5870 levels of performance or better.

Of course perhaps overclocking and later drivers will help out the 465.

Looks like Zotac have put out a 480 that runs fairly cool loaded, or that is by comparison to a stock HSF card.
