hey guys.

Everyone planning to buy a gtx 480 should buy one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Vantec-SP-FC70.../dp/B000233ZMU

I'm convinced it will solve all heat/noise complaints.
Only requirement is a free pci slot underneath the gtx 480 with nothing in between the 2.

I don't have a gtx480 to test it out with, but i feel this could single handedly silence all the haters.

Someone try this and tell us the results!

well, its a decent $18 alternative.
imagine the improvement when you have 2 fans blowing on the exposed aluminum on the gtx 480.
it must be massive.

wont really help a gtx 470 though.

I remember those vantec things from back in 2003. Back then less cards where enclosed, so with the exposed HS of GTX 480 it could work. I don't think they're the best fans airflow wise, so if you have a spare 120mm fan it would probably work better if you can mount it easily enough.

A Copper heatsink that large would cost a bomb and weigh just as much. It's not really practicle.

The 480's look pretty good, shame they won't last very long as this kind of heat will kill any electronics relativity fast. Make sure your warranty covers the life you expect out of the card not only one year would be my advice, especially considering the excessive cost of a card right now.

Really?

I've been running mine flat out for 4 weeks now and I've never broken 80c.
