Gonna have to reinstall the MS AHCI driver tonight and run the ssd toolbox and see if that helps.
I've noticed the same with my SSD. I haven't had time to check it out though...

How do I know if my SSDs are operating as they should? I've disabled the pagefile, I've disabled System Restore, still need to disable indexing, prefetching, and superfetch, as well as ReadyBoost.

But what's all this about TRIM and such? I was just gonna' leave it be but if it slows down noticeably then that's not an option.

slaWter I was thinking of getting this SSD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220509
or this SSD. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148360
I got my OS now on the two 300gig raptors on the marvell 6 Sata, If I put this on the ICH10 controller and reformat my raid 0 just for games, How will this workout? Have to set the ICH10 controller to AHCI right? then install Win 7 on the SSD? Will trim be all setup native in win 7, Or do I have to do something?. Thanks for your time.

TRIM will be enabled automatically in Win 7 or Server 2008 R2. But the drive needs to be in AHCI mode. You can check if TRIM is enabled by entering this command in your Windows shell:

fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

If the result is '0', then it's enabled.
Thanks I will do that.

Just bought one of these puppies. I have heard it is best to disable the defrag, indexing, system restore. Is this the best thing to do for Windows 7.

Some required reading for SSD owners (sorry if this has already been posted)

To enable or disable TRIM Command, you will need to open an Elevated Command Prompt window.

How To Open an Elevated Command Prompt window: Click on Start Orb > Type "CMD.exe" in Search box > Right click on "CMD" and select "Run as Administrator" (If you receive a prompt confirmation, click YES)

How to Enable TRIM Command

In the Elevated command Prompt windows, type the following:

fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0

How to Disable TRIM Command

In the Elevated command Prompt windows, type the following:

fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 1

How do I know if TRIM is working in Windows 7?

In the Elevated command Prompt windows, type the following:

fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify
Results explained below:
DisableDeleteNotify = 1 (Windows TRIM commands are disabled)
DisableDeleteNotify = 0 (Windows TRIM commands are enabled)

How to enable AHCI in Windows 7 after Instalation:

There is one way to fix this, although you need to have knowledge of registry editing. The detailed steps from Microsoft are as follows:

1.Exit all Windows-based programs.
2.Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3.If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
4.Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesM sahci
5.In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
6.In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
7.On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.

After this you’ll have to restart your computer, go to BIOS and enable AHCI. When you log in to Windows again, you’ll notice the installation of drivers for AHCI. Another restart will be required to finish the driver installation.

These steps are provided at your own risk and not suggested unless you know and understand the risks. You will want to make sure the controller driver and MB BIOS support this option before you enable it .
I enabled AHCI after W7 install using the above method and it worked fine.

I always thought that Trim was enabled automatically in Windows 7.

Nice drive Muppet! Can't wait for the Intel G3s, my SSDs are getting quite old now.
I'm such an Intel fanboy when it comes to SSDs
How does one go about moving the index location to another drive, if I may ask.
