I know I am not new here but I got two 480 evga sc's from memory express in alberta, canada. Paid $559 cdn each for them back in may. Went from a single 5970 to 480's in sli. Basically because I didn't like having to buy displayport (active) to dvi adapters for a display tech that is niche at best for eyefinity. I don't mean eyefinity in particular but the use of apple's displayport tech is niche (although displayport tech is faster than dvi by one cycle). And I used to own e-dimensional's 3d glasses (had a pair of wired and wireless back in the day) and loved the 3d vision concept. So, I plunged in and got 3 3d monitors for 3d vision surround. Also found out that the 5970 I owned died on the owner within days to weeks of use (no, I didn't overclock!). The owner was told since I bought the cards from australia and the serials were hong kong based that sapphire demanded he ship the card back to hong kong although sapphire has canadian rma offices. They could have even shipped the card for him back to hong kong for that matter. Never touching sapphire at least if there ever was a reason to go back to the red hare called ati/amd. I like my green tortoise, comes up slow but beats that red hare every time!

Have an EVGA GTX 470 coming from Tiger Direct as we speak, $234 after Bing and Mail-in Rebate, can't wait. Was going to pick up the 460 for around $170 w/ the Bing, but after looking at the benches, I figured it would be worth the extra cash to go with the next level up.

Can't wait, replacing a GTX260 that I have been debating over pairing up with a 2nd one in SLI, but I don't think my PSU would handle it anyway.

I have an MSI gtx 480 en route from California as we speak. I'll be taking off at lunch Monday to try and catch Fedex, so I can get it installed and get this piece of garbage 5870 out of my system, and rma it back. I will NEVER buy another ATI card again.

I'm expecting pretty decent temps on it. It'll be sitting alone in a CM HAF-X case with a 120mm in the gpu shroud blowing directly on it. Now I just gotta figure out what drivers to install.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the Haf-X. It looks to be a very nice case.

so far its great... The fans are whisper quiet, and I actually had to put a flashlight on them all to make sure they were working since the front is the only one that lights up. The inside has about the same room as a 1983 Chevy truck, and it makes cable management very easy. The case is a bit bigger than I thought it would be. It just dwarfs my Antec 900, but man its just awesome.

I really like the extra mounting areas for fans for GPU's. They must have been thinking of the 480 when they designed it.

edit.. got card installed and using latest WHQL drivers. This thing is crazy fast, and BFBC2 just seems all around smoother than my 5870. Using a custom fan profile I'm at about 84 degrees load with 80% fan speed. I don't think thats not too bad considering its 100 outside right now and hovering 80 in the house with AC ON. Going to wait until its cooler out to OC it, but I don't think it really needs it.

God I HATE Alabama in the summer.

Bought the 1GB Galaxy card on Tiger Direct since I wanted to get it before Bing Cashback ran out on the 30th. I can't bank on them having 1GB EVGA cards in stock before then I'm afraid.

OK this card is great. Idles at ~ 38C and my system draws 45W less idle.

I dropped my load temps a bit more by tweaking the fan profile some more, and adding a 120mm to HAF-X gpu fan shroud. I now load at 75 degrees/75% fan in BFBC2 most of the time. I have seen it peak at 80 on an occasion or so, but it usually floats 75 degrees.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the idle/load temps will be when it isn't 100 outside and 80 in my house like it's been here for the last month. I will be overclocking the piss out of it soon.

My HAF-X will be arriving soon hopefully. Also moving from the 42" LCD to 3x 24" Dell monitors. Surround gaming looks mouthwatering. Unfortunately, being half blind means 3d is useless on me.
