Granted I live in WI which is considerably cooler right now than where Doc is but...

With a single card installed and the fan manually set to 60% idle temp is 33c and after 1+ hour of playing Crysis max temp was 68c.

I'm guessing that's cooler than a 480.

Installing my 570 o/c card right now. It's quieter than my old 4870 1 GB.

I just pulled the trigger on an EVGA GTX 580 SC. This should be an interesting upgrade. I haven't purchased new computer hardware since late 2007. This'll be replacing an 8800GTX.

Depending on what happens in the next couple of months, I might trade-up. Will see. Right now I am gaming at 19x12 so I don't expect much difference. I am really loving how quiet the card is though. I was expecting something a lot louder.

I've been gaming at 1366x768 on at 37" LCD for the past several years. For the most part, the 8800GTX has been able to do quite well at that resolution, but we're getting a 50" 1080p set in the next few days, and I think the 8800GTX won't be up to the task. I'm excited to see (1) 1080p, and (2) 1080p with lots of eye candy and with great performance. I know my Q6600, even at 3.6GHz, will bottleneck the 580 in some circumstances, but I don't think it'll be that bad. Hopefully it won't be too long before I can compliment the 580 with a SandyBridge system.

Picked this up today. They even threw in a free Wii. If I'm lucky, the 580 will get here tomorrow, and then it'll snow this weekend (but the power will stay on), and I won't have to go to work.

Wow! Going from 37" 720p to 47" 1080p has been awesome. Performance with the 580 is incredible. I had no idea what I was missing.
