Google tells me it is $840 in the US, and that is before taxes... so yeah, AUS pays more because they have a higher cost of living I expect.

And don't tell me because there is no license fee, that does not effect you one way or the other. The simple fact is games have not risen in price on the PC since the 80s despite large amounts of inflation and cost of living increases. PC Gamer had an article recently about the $60 price point and it stated $50 in the 80s equals like $70 now, so $60 is still cheaper.
Back in the day games typically had more and better story/gameplay elements. What's the point in spending a ton of money and then a bunch more for DLCs?

License fees do make a difference as well. Not factoring that in your equation doesn't make sense.

Anyways, as I said. I personally don't think I can justify spending that much money for this game.

All who have. I hope you enjoy the game.

Well you can't be one of the few countries in the world to escape the Great Financial Crisis relatively unscathed without some "cost".

Yes, Australia's cost of living is quite high compared to other developed nations.
Not as bad as the UK for example, but compared to recent years we are experiencing a higher cost of living.

For example the average house price in Sydney is A$600,000 whilst average rent about $500 per week depending on the suburb and /or proximity to the city center.

So yes, compared to what we have been used to, Australia's cost of living has been steadily increasing over the years.

Glad I don't live in Sydney. Mine was half that for beachfront. ::

Then again the house up the road sold for 1.2 mil ::

The main thing is I can buy Steam for the same price as US and stick it to the local retail shops.

I pay $500 a MONTH for a lovely 2 bedroom in a resort community with fitness center, pool and all that jazz. $500 a week sounds awfully high to me, honestly.

Which brings up a good point, that the US has varying cost of living standards from state to state, area city to city even, yet games cost the same everywhere.

I thought I was in the Splinter Cell thread, my mistake.

Gamespot gave it 6.5, listing DRM and lack of communication in co-op games as the major factors for its lower score than consoles.

6.5 sounds about right for a very short Gears clone.
