You sure it's about time to kill off x86? It still works like 15x times better than x64, at least... you don't have to visit microsoft's social answers website every f'ckin time the explorer decides to crash itself just for fun or the NVIDIA SATA controller decides is about time to do some nasty things with your hard drive...

Bleah, I'm a natural supporter for x64 but... sadly speaking (in my own experience) it works like a charm with Linux, it doesn't with Windows... ¬¬

I'm running Windows 7 x64 since day 1 and I've had zero problems.

Surely you mean kill off 32-bit operating systems? 32-bit software is still like 90%+ of all software out there. Windows 7 64-bit has been catching on more than 32-bit from what I've heard thanks to Dell, HP, etc usually offering it standard. But 32-bit still has a place in operating systems. Some lower end processors (for netbooks usually) are still only 32-bit.

I have been running 64-bit Windows since Vista and have not had one problem with drivers. Believe it or not Windows Server 2008 R2 comes only in 64-bit. I believe that decision was made off of virtualization software becoming so big.

Its time to kill off x86 operating systems... x86 software can still run in x64 windows.
