Is this really the best ad to pop up on our site?

While browsing threads, noticed this one. I only ask because though such sites aren't exactly uncommon; they can and in many cases are a violation of the games terms of service agreements. Basically if the game manufacturers catch people having bought this stuff, they can, and at times have banned users in the past.

I'm not sure what everyone's thought is on this (and admittedly the idea of buying game gold might be a bit varied); but generally speaking are ads that sell products that violate another companies ToS really what we want to come up?

It came up in the sponsored ad section when browsing the Aion thread.

Yeah, they're to gold farmers who try to sell game gold for real world money. And at least in WoW, many who went to those sites and purchased in the way intended were reported to have their accounts hacked into, and their chars stolen, items sold, and the farmer had well more gold to sell They like to spam trade chat, among other places quite frequently. I've even got PSTs from their bots while in instances before

My firewall at work blocked the link, and the reason it gave was that it was a phishing site....

That little surprises me. It's probably how they hack into people's accounts to steal their characters. In fact that almost confirms it when combined with some rumors that they use keyloggers and the like to capture passwords.

Amusingly, I'm getting that add in the top right side of this very page. It's from google adsense.
