Thanks for the insight . Seriously, not all of us have the time to buy the components, map out a game plan and put a system together. Granted, the cost savings may be slight, but the hassle if you already have a stressful job are plenty. Thus, I ask the question again. Being a physician, I could easily tell you to treat yourself when you get sick, but I will not. Please no more patronizing, sarcastic answers. I just want to know who is most reputable.

I'd say Alienware, but I am a little biased. I chose Alienware for my laptop because of their Dell ownership. Since they are owned by Dell, you can get a killer warranty on them. I purchased the 3 year replacement warranty on my M17x, and that covers anything that would happen to it. I looked at Sager, ibuypower, and a few others, but the Dellienware () was the only one that I could get such a warranty with (up to 4 years I believe).

I would choose them for a desktop if I was looking for an all-at-once upgrade, but I usually go for the snowball approach (buy one part...then that means I need to upgrade this other part..then another....snowball).

There are other companies that make some insane PC's (like Falcon Northwest, Velocity Micro, iBuyPower, CyberPower), but Alienware would have my vote.

I'd probably say Alienware because of support (they have their own tier of support separate from Dell) because they leverage Dell's process to get better prices and still have cutting edge tech available.

They've always been pretty exclusive (i.e. expensive)

There is no mapping out a game plan, and if You can't spend half a day of free time to build it, you clearly don't use your computer enough to warrant it.

Seriously though, this is a site that catters to people who actually care about the components in their system. You clearly don't.

Boutique manufacturers use top quality components and have, at least in Alienware's case, 24/7 tech support and on-site support.

Your ridiculous hatred for the OP buying a pre-built system is bordering on an infantile reaction.

I'm thinking about taking a chill pill when I get home today.

And by chill pill, I mean Vicodin.

I'd go with an XPS, but I get a decent discount through Dell on most of them.
