Ugh those low res textures do ruin it.

+1

I don't consider myself to be a graphics ***** by any means, but at the same time I'd expect something that looks monumentally better than their previous engine. The low res textures stand out like crazy.

However, I will say that if the story and atmosphere are done well enough these textures can easily be over looked. I do so when playing Doom3, Quake4, and HL3 + episodes, I could do so for this game.

Textures look fine to me..
Can never get enough of post apocalyptic games, as long as they are done right.
Fallout is still the obvious king, i just hope this has the same depth.

It won't. This is a shooter with some RPG elements, but nowhere near as many as Fallout, and they have said it is quite linear despite having a large world.

Borderlands, Fallout and Rage are not identical games just because they have similar settings.

Really the background in this shot doesn't bother you? The only thing in there that doesn't look 10 years old is the weapon and characters hand models. The game play will have to be epic for it not to be a wait for at least half price buy for me.

Mass Effect 2 looks twice this good.

That background looks to me like a depth of field effect.

If you look at the foreground textures, they are fine.

It also looks like a painted background for what appears to be a theatre for performances. This would explain the low texture :P

It's definitely a misleading shot. I think the background object is supposed to be low detailed since it appears to be some sort of painted stage scenery object, as said above.

The more I read about this game the more my hopes are going down the toilet. They want a T-rating for this game? Lego's games come to mind, yuck.

A T-rating? huh? I think ID is going the wrong way, they should be even more hard core. More console sells is probably is the motive. Now how in the hell are they going to get a T-rating if there is shooting involved? What water pistols or dart guns? .
